Delete your Maki account

It all happens in the app, in three screens. Here are the steps, what gets erased, and what the law requires us to keep.

Last updated · 6 August 2026

From the app

Open Maki, then go to: Profile → Settings → Delete my account.

A screen sums up what is about to be erased and asks you to confirm. Once confirmed, deletion is immediate: your session ends and the account is no longer accessible.

What is erased

  • Your profile: email address, name or nickname, picture.
  • Your favourites, shared lists and saved addresses.
  • Your preferences and the location history tied to your account.
  • Your reviews, ratings and the recipes you published.
  • The link between your account and your past orders.

What is kept, and for how long

Orders and the accounting records attached to them (invoices, payment receipts) are kept for ten years from issue: this is a French accounting and tax obligation we cannot waive. They are detached from your profile and can no longer be traced back to you within the service.

Stripe separately keeps the transaction data it needs to meet its own legal obligations and to fight fraud.

Technical backups are purged within thirty days at most.

Requesting deletion in writing

If you no longer have access to the app, write to smoothandesign@gmail.com from the email address linked to your account, with "Account deletion" as the subject.

We verify your identity, carry out the deletion, then confirm it by email. Processing takes thirty days at most.

Deleting only part of your data

If you want to erase your reviews, your recipes or your location history without closing your account, the steps are on the "Data deletion" page.
